up and down these snowy hills

wildflowers wait the coming spring

in these heights where the snows still cling

and the icy winds still bring chills

 

and spin the blades of windmills

as ravens swim on ebony wings

up and down these snowy hills

wildflowers wait the coming spring

 

south end of Sierra foothills

this winter’s bounty of snow brings

formerly brown slopes soon coloring

flowers bloom, the cycle fulfills

up and down these snowy hills
